Akkuyu nuclear plant acquired power gen license from authorities
ANKARA, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- The Turkish energy market watchdog has granted a 49-year power production license to Akkuyu Nuclear, the Akkuyu nuclear plant operator, local news agency Anadolu reported on Thursday.
Akkuyu Nuclear fully belongs to Russia. A Russian–Turkish agreement on Akkuyu envisages the sale of 49% in the company to external investors. Russia plans to operate the plant under a build-own-operate (BOO) agreement.
The nuclear plant will comprise four units with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts each. The first unit of the plant could be launched in 2023.
